We were so lucky to have so many incredibly generous people donate to our #DiversifyTheMedia crowdfunder, and we’re extremely grateful to every single person who contributed. However, there were some people who really went above and beyond, including Richard Assheton, who is now a journalist for The Times. Richard won the 2019 Eric Robins Prize from City, University of London for his Final Project, in which he exposed a Indian detention camp holding Muslims declared to be foreigners. Richard was awarded £500 in prize money, which he kindly and selflessly donated to our crowdfunder.
He said: “PressPad has hit on a real way to diversify the media and address its structural imbalances. I think journalism’s only hope is to be a conversation between all those it’s about.”
